It’s our
bread & Butter

RaiRai was founded by Kristian Tapaninaho, a Finnish entrepreneur living in Scotland. You might’ve heard of him as the Founder and Co-CEO of Ooni.

Before pizza ovens, there was rye bread.

In Finland if you ask for bread, you get rye bread.

The benefits of rye bread are endless; it’s wholesome, full of flavour and energy, and packed with goodness. The opposite of the white, fluffy stuff synonymous with British sandwich bread.

Rye bread in Finland isn’t just food. It’s part of life.

It’s meant to fill you up and fuel you whether you’re headed to the office or climbing a mountain.

Like most Finns, KRISTIAN GREW UP EATING rye bread EVERY DAY AND WHEN HE MOVED AWAY from Finland, part of him was left behind.

For years he returned from trips to Finland with suitcases full of rye bread to fill his freezer and he quickly realised he wasn’t alone; Finnish expats across the UK were doing the same thing. Something had to change.

But RaiRai wasn’t going to be just any rye bread.

Kristian set off on a mission to find the best rye bread Finland had to offer.

THE JOURNEY TOOK HIM NORTH, ALL THE WAY TO LAPLAND.

There he found it: a small, innovative bakery using local Finnish ingredients, a secret rye sourdough starter and a passion for making the best bread possible.

And just like that, RaiRai was born.

Baked in Finland. Brought to the UK.

Nothing else. Just really really good rye bread.
